Rostov-on-Don, Russia                                                                                                                     July, 2000

Goal:

I am interested in personal growth and have recently left the structure of the corporate world to move into a totally different challenge, with the Peace Corps. I am enjoying learning about my Russian friends, their lives and their culture. I am also trying to help them understand more about the United States, or at least, about my experiences and my personal cultural experiences. I know the world is full of people of different values and hope as I learn more about them, and they about me, we help remove the barriers to understanding and living together in harmony.

Career:

August, 1999 to present – Trainee for ten weeks and then Peace Corps Volunteer in Russia. I presently work at Rostov International Institute of Economics as an associate to the English language department, teaching Business English to students in 3rd, 4th and 5th form. I also tutor groups of students from this Institute. At the Rostov Public Library, in the Library of Foreign Literature-USIS EIC, I co-lead an English Discussion group for one hour each week. During the school year I will be teaching Business English to students at Rostov State Pedagogical University and Rostov State University – Humanities. This summer I am participating in a project centered around Cross Cultural research involving the Internet at Rostov Pedagogical Institute.

1985 to July 1999 - Hired by 3M Company as Sales Representative for Consumer Audio/Video Division. Promoted twice and relocated to Seattle, then offered position with Data Storage Division in 1987. Relocated to San Francisco Bay Area and have remained in the same market but with continual parameter changes to my job. My responsibilities have included a plethora of opportunities ranging from managing and training distributor reps, creating and implementing marketing programs, working with wholesale, retail, OEM, distribution, commercial accounts, small and large businesses, building long term relationships and cold calling. I am a team player and have been mentor to several individuals within the organization. Two years ago, we were spun off by 3M to form an independent company called Imation and my job has continued to allow me to grow. I love change and new opportunities. My last position at Imation was on the SuperDisk Team as a Technology Consultant calling on the Educational Markets on the West Coast. This position was very different from my other positions at Imation and allowed me to expand my talents in service and consumer education as well as travel across eleven states.

1978 to 1985 - Fist Food Brokerage - Sales and Management positions representing multiple food and health and beauty aid manufacturers to the grocery trade. I traveled approximately 1,000 miles (1,609 kilometers) by car each week to cover my territory.

1973 to 1975 - Powers Department Store - Assistant Buyer and Branch Supervisor positions

Personal:

I am married, have no children, and we own our own home in San Francisco. I have earned a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Certification.  For four years I tutored a man through the Project Read Program two hours a week. I also worked briefly with a woman from Korea as well as a woman from Russia to help them improve their conversational English. My husband, Scott, and I love to entertain, where ever we live. I also have a passion for learning new things so am constantly trying new hobbies as well as continuing old ones. Right now I’m learning about Russian cooking, and taking Russian language lessons. In America I enjoyed painting (Sumi black ink painting), knitting and crocheting, quilting and bonsai. I also love to camp, hike, travel (and love to get lost to see where I end up), bike riding and snow shoeing.
