Irina Nickolaevna Rozina 

The computer laboratory head (responsible for methodical issues), senior lecturer of the Computer Science and Translation Chair of the Linguistic Institute of  Rostov State Pedagogical University. Academic degree - Kandidat Nauk in Pedagogy. Member of the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education

Career:
In 1978 Irina Nickolaevna Rozina graduated from the Department of Physics of  Rostov State University. For nine years (1978-1987) Irina Nickolaevna Rozina worked at the Rostov Design Office of Electromechanical Equipment as an engineer. 

Since 1987 Irina Nicholaevna Rozina has been working at Rostov State Pedagogical University, first as a junior research assistant at the Solid Physics Laboratory, then as a senior engineer-programmer, in 1996-1998 as an assistant at the Computer Science Chair, the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. Since September 1998 up to the present moment Dr. I. Rozina has been working as an assistant and later a senior lecturer at the Computer Science and Translation Chair and the computer laboratory head of Linguistic Institute of  Rostov State Pedagogical University (LI RSPU). 

Dr. I. Rozina participated in preparing the project of implementing educational technologies into the teachers and interpreters training programs (1999-2004) at the Department of Foreign Languages of the Rostov State Pedagogical University (Linguistic Institute of  Rostov State Pedagogical University in present). Dr. Rozina delivers lectures and conducts practical classes for the first- and the second year students of  LI RSPU (Computer Science, Business Use of Computers, and the Elements of Computer Linguistics).

In 1998/99 Dr. Rozina was a coordinator and a participant of the distance education courses held by Metropolitan State College of Denver, Colorado, USA; she completed two courses for which she received certificates. (Technical Writing, Internet Document Design) received. 

Dr. Rozina delivered plenary reports and Demo/Posters at a number of Russian (Internet. Society. Personality, ITO - Information Technologies in Education) and foreign conferences (SITE 97 - 8th International Conference on Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education, Orlando, Florida, USA; Ed-Media/Ed-Telecom 98 - 10th World conference on Educational Multimedia and Hypermedia &World Conference on Educational Telecommunications, Frieburg, Germany; TKE'99 - V Congress on Terminology and Knowledge Engineering, Innsbruck, Austria). Dr. Rozina is the author of more than 50 scientific publications in Russian and English. Dr. Rozina participated in creating the Russian Version of the multilingual NetGlos dictionary of the World Wide Language Institute.

In November 1999 Dr. I. Rozina defended a Kandidat thesis "Computer Telecommunications within the framework of Educational Technologies for Teacher Training systems in Russia and the USA" for which she received the academic degree - Kandidat Nauk in Pedagogy.
In 1999-2000  Dr. Rozina was a judge for the International Educational ThinkQuest Junior Web Sites Contest, organized by the Advanced Network&Services. 
In October and November 1999 Dr. Rozina participated in an Education Exchange Program at several universities, colleges and schools of Kentucky USA, including the University of Louisville, Western Kentucky University, Bellarmine College. The Program was organized and supported by IREX Community Connections in cooperation with the Louisville International Cultural Center (LICC). 

I.N. Rozina received an Award at the second Russian Open Contest "The Best International Education Cooperation Projects for 1999".

In the beginning of 2000 Dr. Rozina developed the "Cultural Values Project", later supported by the Consortium for Humanitarian and Social Sciences (IREX) within the framework of the Information resources Creation and Distribution Program Small Grants Contest for the Internet Publication Project (N CARN-WEB-RU-I-9). While developing the project Dr. Rozina implemented a new technique called virtual classroom and virtual research community. For this project, the classes involved were students from Rostov State Pedagogical University and Western Kentucky University. It is the third international project coordinated by Dr. Rozina, conducted by the means of e-mail (the two previous ones include: a project "Comparison of Canada and USA Education Systems" held in cooperation with Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada in 1996/97 and an "Acquaintance" project, held in cooperation with a Phoenix High School teacher in 1998/99 Arizona, USA).

Areas of scientific interest include information and communication technologies, interactive  environments (computer-based language learning, computer-supported collaborative learning and research, computer-mediated communication).
Personal: married, two sons-teenagers.
Hobbies: travelling, painting, sauna, skiing, flowers.
