The problems investigated are connected with the changes introduced by computer and communicational technologies into education and culture. When implemented into the academic process the latest achievements of telecommunicational technologies, a flexible, dynamic H-media interactive educational environment is created. The range of people-s communication is expanded: the interpersonal communication is superseded with the Global Net users-community, consisting of a considerable number of local cultural communities. The psycho-pedagogical, linguistical, social, gender problems of cross-cultural communication are to be investigated within the framework of virtual classrooms and Educational Research communities. The group consists of four postgraduate students.

Lexicography is an integral part of Culture. As a structured system of information International Lexicography, computer and communication technologies based, includes the subject of investigation (namely, bilingual electronic dictionaries for the computer net users) and the methods of investigation (lexicographical work involving computer and net technologies). The applied aspect implies the research work focused on the appropriate Russian-English translation of the Site materials and compilation of a bilingual cultural and cross-cultural glossary. The group consists of a postgraduate student, 2 senior course students and 2 English-speaking assistants.

Ethnical Values Systems: Project Research group

The problems regarded are related to the Ethnical Values Systems correlation as a factor of mutual understanding between nations (the complex interdisciplinary analysis). On the theoretical and practical level it is planned to carry out measuring the distance between different Ethnical Values Systems by the means of traditional and novel techniques (i.e. available for the project participants telecommunicational technologies, sociological, socio-psychological and socio-linguistical methods). When complemented with the qualitative evaluation the quantitative evaluation of the poly-ethnical Values Systems can obtain a considerable importance for reducing cross-ethnical tension, increasing their mutual tolerance, establishing a better mutual understanding and cooperation between them. The group consists of 6 postgraduate students, working at the named problems.

This cultural investigation is based on regarding the concept of culture correlated to the information- and technology oriented approach. Culture can be presented as a model of dynamical adaptation of the human being and the human society to the social environment. The spatio-temporal characteristics of Culture are represented with a transformed space, various media (television, books, the Internet, etc), and certain algorithms for transforming the Sociocultural Space. From the point of view of culture study approach the cultural value can be can be expressed by the immediate existence of the past, the present and the future, the continuous dialogue between them, the combination of subcultural values, norms, patterns and forms of activity of a certain Sociocultural Space. The group consists of 2 postgraduate students.
